Return of Pollock possible

Craig Pollock, former team principal of BAR, says it's not inconceivable that he may return to Formula One in the future. Pollock was ousted from BAR in favour of David Richards in December 2001 and has since gone on to co-found a CART team. However, there's room on the grid for another team or two in F1 but Pollock thinks it's too late to be considering next year.

"It is not out of the question that I would never set up another F1 team, but it would take an exceptional set of circumstances to do it," Pollock told the BBC. "I would need the backing of a car manufacturer and a title sponsor in place, but until that happens -- and it is not the case at the moment -- you wouldn't see me doing anything in that line."

"It is too late to get anything together for 2004, if anything was to happen it would have to be a 2005 project. It's not a question of having unfinished business, it is just a question of understanding how difficult it is to make it work. But there are spaces for two more teams in F1 and it is in the sport's interests to have them filled."

Pollock denied that he was in talks with Ford, saying he wasn't discussing projects with any manufacturer. He also didn't consider Jacques Villeneuve, whom he manages, as a possible driver: "I don't think that would be a good idea a second time around," he remarked.
