Jacques Villeneuve made it historic day for BAR in Barcelona today as he claimed the team's first-ever podium finish after coming home third in the Spanish Grand Prix.
Going into the last lap of the race it looked as though the Jacques would have to settle for fourth after a strong run which saw him push Juan Pablo Montoya's Williams BMW hard.
But in a dramatic finale race leader Mika Hakkinen suffered a suspected clutch failure on the last lap. This meant no points for the Finn as well as an unexpected bonus for the drivers behind.
Michael Schumacher regained the lead he had held in the early stages, while Montoya and Jacques were promoted into second and third respectively.
It's the first time that JV has finished on the podium since the 1998 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Speaking in the post-race press conference JV said: "It's great. Everybody in the team has worked really hard for the past three years. To finally get a podium is fantastic.
"We couldn't have gone any quicker today. The team did a great job with the pit-stops so we jumped Trulli in the pits and we hung on from there."
The result moves Jacques into equal ninth place with the unfortunate Hakkinen in the drivers' championship, while the team remain in sixth place in the constructors' standings.
Villeneuve's team-mate Olivier Panis was unlucky to finish just out of the points in seventh after losing time during one of his pit stops.
