Good conditions make for good progress

Day one in Spain

The OrangeArrows team began a four-day test at Valencia in Spain today. Although the circuit is not on the F1 calendar, it's tight and twisty characteristics make it ideal for preparation and set-up work for next week's Monaco Grand Prix.

Both Enrique Bernoldi and Johnny Herbert were in action throughout the day with trouble-free running in the A22s. With brilliant sunshine and temperatures reaching 32 degrees, conditions were good for the whole session.

Enrique was at the wheel of the new A22-07 chassis which ran faultlessly for a total of 73 laps whilst working on traction control software developments as well as tyre testing for Bridgestone. Johnny spent the day working on suspension set up and completed 63 laps.

Johnny Herbert:
"We got through our programme, which consisted mainly of aero and mechanical set-up work, without any major problems. We're definitely going in the right direction and have got a lot of useful data for Monaco. As always it was good to get back behind the wheel of an F1 car and I'm looking forward to carrying on tomorrow."

Both Enrique and Johnny will continue the team's testing programme at Valencia tomorrow.
