The BMW WilliamsF1 Team completed the second day of a four-day test at the Spanish circuit of Valencia with Ralf Schumacher and Marc Gené driving. Tomorrow Juan Pablo will join Marc and they will complete the final two days.
Ralf Schumacher
"Unluckily I only did 20 laps due to technical problems. Therefore there is
not much I can comment on. We have been working on traction control, but
could not do what was planned for Michelin due to the lack of running.
Tonight I am going to Berlin for the launch of the new BMW 7 series and then
am going home to Austria."
Marc Gené
"Just like yestereday, it was a very positive day as we completed the whole
programme we had planned. We mainly concentrated on tyre testing for Michelin
for Monaco. Due to the work done today we have already got the information
needed to make the decision on which compound to use in Monaco. Contrary to
the original plan, I am now staying on to continue testing until Friday."
Sam Michael (Chief Operations Engineer)
"On Ralf's car we concentrated on set-up work and mechanical components for
Monaco. We had a gearbox problem, which cost us quite a bit of running time,
and only managed a couple of runs for aero testing just before we finsihed
for the day. On Marc's car we concentrated on tyre compound testing for
Monaco, with Marc contributing to Michelin's decision for the next race.
Juan Pablo will be in Valencia tomorrow and will do a race simulation and
tyre testing, while Marc will be concentrating on brake testing."
Dr Mario Thiesen ( BMW Motorsport Director)
"On Ralf's car we had planned to continue the further development of
traction control. Ralf only did 20 laps, which did not bring us much
information. Marc had different targets today as he did chassis testing,
tyres and traction control as well. We hope our programme on Thursday and
Friday will run as planned."
