The BMW WilliamsF1 Team has completed a five day test at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. It has been the first few days with the FW25 chassis. The car is not in its definitive aero specification so our concentration has been upon learning the car and putting as much mileage as possible on the new car and components.

At the next test in Valencia we should be closer to our aero starting point for the FW25. We can then begin to work on the balance and fine-tuning.

Sam Michael (Chief Operations Engineer, WilliamsF1):

"It is the end of the first test with the FW25. This week has been about system checks on the car for reliability and performance. Now we head off to Valencia with the test team and a second new car. Juan and Ralf drove the FW25. Marc continued tyre testing for Michelin in the FW24."

Mario Theissen (BMW Motorsport Director):

"We used Saturday and Sunday for engine development work with Marc Gené driving the FW24D with the new P83 engine fitted. The next three days of the test we were supporting the Michelin tyre development programme which was run with the FW24 and last year's P82 engine."

Regarding the new chassis, the FW25, the focus has been on testing the new engine in its final surrounding. For example checking the cooling system, oil circulation, intake system and exhaust system. This first test confirmed all systems were operating successfully.

The next three tests prior to the first Grand Prix will now be focussed on race performance set-up of the whole package.

The BMW WilliamsF1 Team will be running the next test at the Valencia circuit 10th -- 14th February
