Interview with Williams test and third driver Antonio Pizzonia

Q: What does it mean to you to work in a team like the BMW WilliamsF1 Team?

Antonio Pizzonia: It means a lot. When I was a kid I was always dreaming of driving for WilliamsF1. My first F1 test was in a WilliamsF1 car. So it's very special to drive for the team.

Q: Was it a dream come true when you first drove an F1 car?

AP: Yes, definitely. Like I have said, I was always dreaming of driving for WilliamsF1. I think I realized one of my biggest dreams last year, when I was racing for the first time for the team at Hockenheim. But obviously I want more. I want to win races, I want to win championships for the team. Hopefully I will be able to also realize these dreams.

Q: Are you a good team player?

AP: I think I am a very good team player. Obviously all the drivers want to beat their team-mate. There's no big difference in our team.

Q: If you were not an F1 driver, what would you be doing today?

AP: I used to play a lot of football when I was quite young. But obviously when I started racing, I had to look after myself a little bit, as I didn't want to get hurt. So I stopped playing for a while. But when I was young, football was my biggest passion. But, after driving a go-kart for the first time, this changed completely. I still enjoy football a lot, however. When I'm at home at Brazil, I use to play football nearly every day, with my friends and my family as well. I love football.

Q: Have you ever been afraid while driving a race car?

AP: There's always a little bit of fear. Otherwise there would be no limit. But when you are in the car, you don't want to be thinking about crashing or fear. You just want to concentrate on racing and doing your best.

Q: How does it feel to achieve a good race or test result?

AP: It feels very, very good, for sure. That's your goal. And when you achieve it, it's a big relief and satisfaction as well.
