Marc Gené was on duty at Valencia today, as the BMW WiiliamsF1 Team began the preparations for the second round of the 2004 Formula One season.

Conditions for today's test at the "Circuit de la Comunitat Valencia Ricardo Tormo" were changeable, as the BMW WilliamsF1 Team began a three day test in preparation for next week's Malaysian Grand Prix.

The track was still damp following heavy overnight rain. Thankfully, conditions gradually improved over midday, with temperatures reaching 19°C. In the early afternoon, however, a rainstorm struck the track and the drivers were forced to go out on wet tyres once again.

Marc Gené, official test driver of the BMW WilliamsF1 Team, was the team's sole representative today, the Spaniard concentrating on aerodynamic and mechanical set-ups.

He completed the most laps today (88) with a best time of 1:12.098, which he set shortly after midday as the track was beginning to dry. Marc will continue testing for the BMW WilliamsF1 Team tomorrow.
