World Series Renault - Marco Bonanomi sets record pace at Barcelona

This is definitely an intense week for Marco Bonanomi. After competing in the GP2 Asia Series at Al Sakhir, Bahrain, for the penultimate round of this season's championship with Piquet Sports, Marco headed towards Barcelona to enter the collective World Series Renault tests on the Montmelo track.

Bonanomi took the wheel of the Dallara-Renault he'll be driving all-year long for Comtec Racing, in order to prepare his bid to title star- ting from the first round of the series on April 26 and 27 at Monza. After spending some time in finding the right setup for the Spanish racetrack during the first session, he had to face some technical difficulties.

Thanks to the great job done by the team, Bonanomi had the chance to enter the track in the closing stages of the second session, climbing up the order and clocking the best lap of Day 1 in 1:33.478. Unfortunately, a rainfall and another technical issue to the car's engine prevented Marco from turning more than 10 laps on Wednesday morning.

The Italian driver was then forced to skip the remaining three sessions to travel to Dubai, where he's set to contest the final round of the GP2 Asia Series on Friday, 11, and Saturday, 12 April.
