The work is done - time to party
18 races and nine events respectively, held at every permanent German racetrack - apart from the abroad event at Assen, Netherlands: that was the 2009 ATS Formula 3 Cup season. The dominating driver: Laurens Vanthoor at the wheel of a Dallara F307 Volkswagen. But before starting to think about and focusing on the 2010 season, the Formula 3 Association celebrated an end-of-season party in the Motorparkhotel Oschersleben.
The event was kicked off with the official topics: the presentation of the 2009 ATS Formula 3 Cup season film and - quite obviously - the presentation ceremony for the best drivers of the season: the top five of the ATS Formula 3 Trophy ranking, Jesse Krohn (Finland), Luca Iannaccone (Italy), Francesco Lopez (Germany), Mika Vahamaki (Finland) and the champion, Sergey Chukanov (Ukraine) were the first to be awarded their trophies. They were followed by the top six of the Cup ranking: Tom Dillmann (France), Nico Monien (Germany), Rafael Suzuki (Brazil), Markus Pommer (Germany), Stef Dusseldorp (Netherlands) and the well deserved champion, Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium). The official programme was completed by the presentation ceremony for the best team, the squad of Frits van Amersfoort, who helped his drivers, Vanthoor and Dusseldorp, making it to the very top of the leader board.
Nonetheless, this wasn't the end of the evening in the Motorparkhotel. Far from it! Now, those who had battled it out with one another throughout the season were sitting together, chatted, had fun - and partied the night away. A truly successful conclusion of the 2009 season. Some of the drivers will leave the ATS Formula 3 Cup to take their chances in other motor-racing categories - while others will be back at the Motorsportarena Oschersleben, next year: on the occasion of the 2010 ATS Formula 3 Cup season kick-off.
