Bird Back in Business with First F3 Euroseries Podium

A radical change in the set up of his car finally enabled Sam Bird to show his real qualifying pace at the legendary Zandvoort circuit this weekend.

Starting fourth on the grid in race one, the BP Ultimate driver drove a strong race to finish on the podium following Hulkenberg's disqualification.

"We've worked long and hard to find a new set up that will suit me in this series, and now I think we've turned the corner" said Sam after the race.

"I'm looking forward to building on this momentum".

After a good start from sixth on the grid in race two, Bird kept both Red Bull drivers ahead of him under intense pressure for most of the race.

"Towards the end of the race, I still had great pace, but just couldn't find a way past - Zandvoort is a super track, but with few overtaking opportunities" the CJ Motorsport managed driver said afterwards.

"However, if we can continue to work in this direction, I'm sure there's much more to come. Today, I'd like to say a big thank you to the team for their hard work and to my sponsors for their loyal support."
