MECHANICAL WOES ELIMINATE OLLIE AT THRUXTON.

Claygate teenager Ollie Millroy's weekend didn't go to plan at the first rounds of the Formula Renault UK championship this weekend when a problem with changing gear in the new 2010 spec car led to a spectacular off on lap two of the second race on Sunday afternoon. Following a seventh place finish in the first race on Saturday Ollie was confident of improving this but realised as early as the formation lap that there was a problem and this wasn't going to be.

"I knew when I pulled onto the track that there was a problem" said Ollie "but I was hoping that it might clear. I had a great start off the line but as I was going up the inside of Pal'Kiss and tried to change up to third gear it wouldn't go. This caused me to slow up and someone damaged my front wing which on the second lap caused me to come off at Goodwood at about 140 miles per hour. I'm obviously very disappointed but these things happen in Motorport. It's only the the first weekend of the championship and there's a long way to go. I've been right up the sharp end in testing with Fortec so we know we're competitive we just need to prove it at the second round at Rockingham in three weeks time."
