Andrea Caldarelli overcomes troubles to score points at Dijon
Andrea Caldarelli scored valuable points at Dijon, in the second round of the West European F.Renault Cup. The Toyota Driver Program pilot ended up in 4th place on both races and consolidated third place in standings. Caldarelli experienced ECU problems in practice and qualifying that prevented him from fighting for pole. In the first qualification ses- sion, he was completing a sure front row lap. Unfortunately, after clocking the two best splits of the day, he had to surrender to a faulty battery and content with 5th. On Race 1, he was able to come back to 2nd place, but after the race was stopped earlier, the stewards decided to set the order by the lap before, pushing him back to 4th. In the second qualification, Caldarelli took the third spot, but was passed by Vergne and Nebilitskiy while trying to avoid a contact with Albert Costa at the start. He was then able to move on the Frenchman easily, and settled for fourth after being blocked thoroughly by the Russian. Daniel Ricciardo scored a double win.
