Sydney, 11/6/02. Variety is the spice of life and the Super Tourers will prove that beyond doubt when cars grid up at Queensland Raceway on Sunday 23rd June for three action-packed races.
The category takes an ordinary 2 litre, four-door saloon and race engineers the car for absolute peak performance. And not just a few makes circulating like other categories. The 2002 Australian Super Touring series features BMW, Alfa, Ford Mondeo, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota Carina's and Camry's and Peugeot all on the grid.
The sparks will fly as the SAE BMW 320i's Alan Gurr defends his series lead from young-gun rival Andre Morgan in the Team MGM Alfa 155TS. Both share an equal number of series points heading into qualifying with pressure mounting from a grid of competitive teams each with their eyes on the trophy.
In an expanded field for Queensland Raceway, Andrew Haberfield makes his 2002 Super Tourer debut in the OMP Racing Nissan Primera. Also watch Wayne Wakefield in the Peugot 405 as the drivers vie for the Krosno Pole Trophy.
The Australian Super Tourer series in 2002 is part of the action packed Power Tour circus.
