SCCA Pro Racing/WKA Constructors Championship Driver Shootout date announced.
TOPEKA, Kan. (November 19, 2002) - SCCA Pro Racing and the World Karting Association (WKA) announced today that the Constructors Championship Driver Scholarship Shootout will take place Dec. 16-18 at Roebling Road Raceway, in Savannah, Ga. Two drivers will emerge from the test with fully-funded Primus Racing rides in SCCA Club Racing National competition.
The first day of the shootout will consist of all six drivers, the top three from ICC and ICA final point standings, being fitted in Formula Ford 2000 Zetec cars and lapping the nine-turn, two-mile road course.
The second day will involve two separate shootouts, with the fastest driver in each landing the fully-funded Primus Racing ride. ICC Champion Craig Baltzer, of Bettendorf, Iowa and ICA Champion Steve Welk, of Franklin, Wis., will battle in the first shootout, with the slower driver also participating in the second shootout involving second- and third-place drivers from ICC and ICA. The second group of drivers will include Alan Adams, of Middleton, N.Y., Michael Bailliez, of Bartonville, Ill., Adam Pecorari, of Aston, Pa., and Brian Jacobsen, of Lomb, Ill.
"The Driver Scholarship program is the first step in our SCCA ladder system," said Mitch Wright, SCCA Pro Racing Vice President and General Manager. "It not only awards two drivers with fully-funded rides, but also gives the other drivers important seat time in a Zetec car that will help them as they move from karts to cars."
