Two-way title tussle

It's time for the title showdown as Tom Ingram and Jake Hill go head-to-head in the Ginetta Junior Championship at Brands Hatch on October 9/10.

Widely regarded as providing the best action on the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship support package, the Ginetta Junior season comes to a conclusion at Brands Hatch ton October 9th/10th with Tom Ingram and Jake Hill in a straight fight for title honours.

Ingram wrestled control of the championship away from Hill at Silverstone in late August and went on an unbroken run of four wins, two at the Northamptonshire track and two more during the category's annual visit to Knockhill.

Hill hit back at Donington Park three weeks ago though with a victorious double to end Ingram's streak and so the Kent racer has closed the points gap down to 42 for his home races. In all reality, it'll take a serious dose of misfortune for Ingram to be denied his first car racing title this weekend.

With a maximum 74 points available to any one driver, Louise Richardson isn't mathematically out of the hunt for the title as she aims to follow in the wheel-tracks of outgoing champion Sarah Moore but her title chances do look to be over after two difficult weekends at Knockhill and Donington. The runner-up spot is most definitely up for grabs if Hill falters though and third is certainly secure.

Speaking of Moore, she steered her Eurotech Racing entry to a superb podium finish at Donington last time out for her first top-three result of 2010. Clearly, she'll be aiming to end the year on a high this weekend, as will brother David who is currently the highest placed of the two in the driver standing.

History was thought to have been made by 14-year-old Seb Morris during the previous round when he scorched to a stunning maiden podium in his first year of car racing. On closer inspection though, Tom Howard remains the youngest rostrum finisher in Ginetta Junior history by a matter of days thanks to his podium here at Brands Hatch during the first meeting of 2009.

Keep an eye on Northern Ireland's Patrick McClughan, the youngest driver competing in Ginetta Junior this year and the 14-year-old has high hopes this weekend after taking a season's best ninth place during the previous round. His ambition is to one day compete at Le Mans so look out for this burgeoning talent in the Tranzpower car.

Get ready for what are likely be two of the best races of the year - which way the title will fall though is anyone's guess!

Free practice for the Ginetta Junior Championship takes place at 09.00 on Saturday October 9th with qualifying at 11.45. Race one, over 14 laps, will be on Saturday at 17.10 with race two on Sunday (covered live on ITV4) starting at 12.10.
