HERRON ON PACE DURING SILVERTONE GP TRACK TEST DEBUT
Talented saloon car star Andrew Herron made a big impression on his first ever visit to the full Silverstone Grand Prix track on Friday, 20th March, during an unofficially timed test outing with the JHR Developments ELF Renault Clio Cup team.
The 20-year-old Northern Irishman, who has only previously experienced the National and International configurations of the famous Northamptonshire venue, continued his impressive recent test form to conclude the last of Friday's sessions as the fastest Clio driver on circuit.
After learning the 3.2-mile GP track during the opening session, Andrew then had runs in two of the Dronfield based team's Clio Cup race cars. In session three, the former category race winner leapt to the head of the pack and ended the outing very happy indeed with his pace and progress.
"I really enjoyed driving on the full Grand Prix track", commented the Dromore based racer, "I'd never had the opportunity to experience it before yesterday's test so it was good to get some running there, especially as we'll be back at Silverstone for the official test this coming week.
"I'm really pleased we were fastest at the end of the day and we're confident when we're on a level playing field with everyone during the official test we'll be up at the front. It's great fun being back in a Clio, I'm thoroughly enjoying it."
Official ELF Renault Clio Cup testing will take place at Silverstone's National Circuit this Tuesday, 24th March, while on Wednesday, 25th March, competitors and teams will transfer to the full Grand Prix Circuit layout.
An announcement on Andrew's 2009 racing plans is expected in due course.
