Mortimer Puts RPM Viper on Pole
Alex Mortimer put the Team RPM Viper Competition Coupe onto Pole Position for Round 3 of the 2007 Avon Tyres British GT Championship ahead of the Barwell Motorsport Aston Martin DBRS9 of Ben de Zille Butler and the Eclipse Mosler of Craig Cole.
Jamie Smyth put the RSS Performance Porsche on pole for the depleted GTC class grid 0.601seconds ahead of the Beechdean Ferrari 360 of Andrew Howard.
"It is nice to be back at the front," said a pleased Alex Mortimer. "This is my first pole position since 2005, so that's nice. On the otherhand it is a little frustrating I don't think I drove as well as I can, the time was slower than I went this morning when I was on old tyres and I was on new tyres for qualifying. Race pace wise I'm really chilled. The car feels really good now and we are just going to have to get on with it."
The VRS Motor Finance Ferrari 430 with Phil Burton driving failed to make the track before the end of the session due to teh mechanics fixing the damage from the accident in Free Practice and will start the race at the back of the grid.
