Ferrari on the podium at Brands Hatch
Maranello, 19 September 2010 -- The sixth round of the International GT Open Championship has just ended at the famous Brands Hatch circuit in England.
Of the six F430 GT2 cars entered in this prestigious event, the best placing in Race 1 went to the Edil Cris Racing Team crew of Philipp Peter and Michal Broniszewski, who finished second behind the Villois Racing Aston Martin Vantage, driven by Luca Guerrero and Max Wiser. Third place on the podium went to the duo of Raffaele Giammaria-Enrico Toccacelo (Edil Cris Racing Team) who finished ahead of the series leaders, Alvaro Barba-Pierre Kaffer (AF Corse Ferrari.) The Italian AF Corse crew had to settle for a result that did not match their expectations, because of problems on the car, after it got caught up in an accident caused by the Porsche 911 GT3 (IMSA Performance Matmut) which had to retire. However, the Barba-Kaffer crew took some satisfaction from finishing second in the final race, behind Raymond Narac-Patrick Pilet (IMSA Performance Matmut) brining home enough points to keep the lead in the championship. Fourth at the flag was the Giammaria-Toccacelo Ferrari, also running competitive in the race for the title.
The International GT Open Championship will be back in action for the penultimate round of the season at the Monza circuit on 3 October, before then tackling the season finale at Barcelona on 31 October.
