Handling Problems Hinder Sharp in Milwaukee Qualifying
After battling a tight race car in qualifying this afternoon for the ABC Supply Company -- AJ Foyt 225, Scott Sharp will line up 17th for tomorrow's 225-lap race. This will be Sharp's third career start on the tricky Milwaukee Mile oval. He claimed his best result at Milwaukee last year, finishing 10th .
Sharp is looking to make up some valuable ground tomorrow after mechanical issues in the past two races. One of his best finishes of the 2006 season came on the only other short-oval race of the year at Richmond where Sharp finished fifth. Four of Sharp's nine IndyCar Series career wins have been on short ovals - Nazareth (2002), Phoenix (1998), Dover (1998) and Loudon (1997).
Scott Sharp - #8 Delphi Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"We showed up this weekend a little off the pace, and we have been trying to catch up. We gained some ground this morning, but we have been fighting the car being super tight. I had to lift every lap in the middle of [Turns] One and Two just so the car would turn. It was not what we hoped for the Delphi car but, hopefully, we can get it better for tomorrow. We need to make some big changes otherwise tomorrow is going to be very long."
