England's Dan Wheldon will line up in fourth place on the starting grid at the new Kansas Speedway in the USA this afternoon for the sixth race of this year's CART Dayton Indy Lights Championship.
Having been fastest in both of Friday's practice sessions with a best time of 30.008 seconds,Wheldon's quickest time in yesterday afternoon's official qualifying session was 30.364 seconds around the 1.5-mile Kansas oval - an average speed of 180.213 mph - in his Gemstar Communications Lola-Buick entered by PacWest Racing.
Saturday's track conditions were 'slower' than Friday's pole position time being 30.252 seconds.
After yesterday's official qualifying, 23-year old Dan Wheldon commented: "I don'tknow what happened. I'm kind of at a loss for words right now. We had been fastest all weekend, but that doesn't matter now because we're starting fourth. The times are so close it should make for a very competitive race. I lost some time on my qualifying run when I got too much scrub with my tyres through turns 3 and 4, and it cost me. On the brighter side of things, I can still win this race from the second row. I just need to make it happen."
