Mansell climbs through the field before electrical problems end his debut race at Indianapolis

Indy Pro series rookie, Scott Mansell drove a brilliant race from thirteenth on the grid to climb up to sixth place before an electrical problem caused his car to stop on lap sixteen of the Indy Pro Liberty Challenge race at Indianapolis on Saturday.

Practice and qualification for the Indy Pro race supporting the US F1GP had been disappointing for the young Brit who qualified thirteenth on the grid after being hampered by a faulty damper.

He hoped his luck would change in the race but having made a brilliant start in the Chicago Climate Exchange sponsored Michael Crawford Motorsports car, Mansell slowly climbed his way up the field to sixth place before an electrical problem ended his race on lap sixteen.

Scott Mansell:
"I got a pretty good start and I think I was eighth after the first lap, from thirteenth on the grid. I slowly worked my way past a few guys and at one point I think we were up to fifth. Then there was an electrical problem with the car. No. 27, Jonathan Klein, overtook me on the yellow,, and he came third, so we made good progress in the race. We would have maybe been up there on the podium if we had not had the problem, but that's the way it goes.

It's disappointing not to finish the race, especially when we've come from the back and have made pretty good progress.
