Potential but no result for Davison at Watkins Glen

Australian Motorsport Foundation International Rising Star James Davison, experienced a difficult but character building weekend at Watkins Glen International after mechanical problems affected qualifying and Round 8 of the 2008 Firestone Indy Lights Championship.

Round 9 which was held later the same day, saw Davison drive from last position to 11th.

Davison who had shown speed at the previous road course held on the streets of St. Petersburg, had high hopes going into qualifying. On the opening lap of the session James endured a broken input shaft, leaving the LifeLock/Sam Schmidt Motorsports Dallara with no drive. The component was replaced however a similar component failure forced Davison out of the first race on the warm-up lap.

Starting last on the grid for Round 9 held later in the day, Davison was hit in the rear by a competitor resulting in a spin and flat spotted tires. Davison re-entered the race and drove from 21st to 11th place.

Davison said "I am obviously very disappointed, we have proven to be competitive however circumstances outside of my control have affected earning a result. I have got to do the best with the way the cards are dealt to me and I eagerly look forward to Nashville and the second half of the season, to secure the results my team and the Australian Motorsport Foundation deserve."'

Round 10 of the 2008 Firestone Indy Lights Championship will be held at the Nashville Superspeedway this weekend July 12th.
