WKA Moving Forward

01.08.2008 - Effective Jan. 1, 2008 some significant changes took place in the leadership roles of the WKA. Both President Randy Kugler and Vice-President Kenny Venberg retired from their officer's position. Filling the roles in those two areas will be former Chairman of the Board Rick Dresang as the new WKA President and District 10 Trustee Kevin Williams as the Vice-President of Sprint and Road Racing. Van Gilder will continue in his role as Executive Director.

Executive Director Gilder will be working with the WKA staff on the day-to-day operations of the organization with the ongoing support and direction of President Dresang.

As for Kugler, he will remain on as President-Emeritus advising the organization when needed. "Karting has played a major part in my life," said Kugler. "My tenure in WKA allowed me to work closely with one of my dearest friends Kenny Venberg as my Vice-President. We are both proud of the difference we made and wish the organization the utmost success in the future," Kugler went on to say. "I am very relieved that the WKA Board of Trustees followed my recommendation to appoint Rick Dresang and Kevin Williams in these positions. It is time to move forward and carry the WKA brand to new heights."

Serving as Chairman of the Board Dresang has kept his hand on the pulse of the organization for quite some time. "Knowing that Randy will still be at our disposal is important as WKA moves into the future. With Van's assistance in WKA's day-to-day operations I feel very confident we have a good team in place," said Dresang.

The other officer positions remain unchanged with Angelo Buffomante continuing as the Secretary and Melissa Nelson-Tate as the Treasurer.
