Beauchamp Takes Top Spot
Earns first pole of season for Canadian Tire race at Barrie

BARRIE, Ontario, Canada -- Ron Beauchamp Jr. won his first pole position of 2010 Saturday afternoon at Barrie Speedway in advance of the evening's Wild Wing 300 presented by DriveWise.

Beauchamp lapped the .333-mile oval in 14.369 seconds (83.490 mph). It was his third career NASCAR Canadian Tire Series pole and first since last year's season finale at Kawartha Speedway.

Scott Steckly, who was fastest in practice, qualified second at 14.383 (83.348). Points leader JR Fitzpatrick qualified third at 14.472 (82.836). Kerry Micks and DJ Kennington rounded out the top five.

Anthony Simone qualified sixth, followed by Mark Dilley, Peter Shepherd III, John Gaunt and Don Thomson Jr.

Fitzpatrick enters the weekend with a 51-point lead over Kennington, 92 over Micks, and 101 over Steckly with three races remaining. Kennington and Steckly have two wins each in the series' five previous events at Barrie.

The Wild Wing 300 is scheduled to go green at 8 p.m.
