St-Eustache: Anthony Simone race report

SEVENTH FOR SIMONE AT ST. EUSTACHE

St. Eustache, Quebec, Saturday July 3, 2010: Anthony Simone driver of the No. 95 Simone Autosport/Graphix Factory Monte Carlo started the third event of the young NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season in 13th and finished in 7th.

Simone was happy with the set up under his car for practice as the team kept working to make it faster for their driver. Qualifying did not quite go the way they had hoped with Simone notching the 13th quickest time.

For the 250 lap main event, the No. 95 team had one goal -- finish all 250 laps. Lady Luck hadn't been on their side for the first two events of the season with a top five finish taken away in the dying laps of event one and a part failure sending them to pit road early in event two.

But that was about to change. After the caution on lap 64 Simone restarted in 3rd and maintained that position for 64 laps before he came to pit road. Simone took fuel only and restarted in 8th place.

After taking tires on lap 165 Simone restarted the Lucas Oil National 250 in 11th place and was making his charge to the front of the track.

While in eighth place the driver of the No.95 Monte Carlo was able to avoid a wreck with two laps to go and finished in seventh place.

After the race Simone remarked, "The car was awesome and we are really happy with a top ten finish. We are looking forward to the next event at the Toronto Honda Indy and are aiming for a top five."

Anthony Simone moved up three positions to the 12th spot in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Points standings.

The next event for the No.95 Graphix Factory Castrol Chevrolet will be Toronto Honda Indy for the Jumpstart 100.
