Biffle on the Daytona 500:
"I feel pretty good about our performance in the Bud Shootout up until
the wreck at the end of the race. The 3M Ford was pretty good in the
draft. The top line was a better line for us in the Shootout so if we
can figure out how to get the car to run on the bottom, we should be in
good shape for the Daytona 500. The pit crew picked up right where they
left off last season with picking up spots in the pits, so I'm pretty
excited about this Sunday."
Erwin on the Daytona 500:
"We didn't qualify as well as we would have liked to but based on the
way the car ran in the draft in the Shootout, we may be able to make up
some ground in the 150's. The car for the 500 is very similar to the
Shootout car. We don't generally put a lot of emphasis on qualifying
for the superspeedway races but I think that starting near the front in
the Shootout was definitely an advantage so if we can get a good finish
in the Gatorade 150 on Thursday, that can only help. The good news is
that we have several practice sessions between now and then to work on
fine-tuning the car."
Daytona 500 Notes
Biffle has one win, one top-five and three top-10's in 14 Sprint Cup Series starts at Daytona. He has finished on the lead lap in all but four of those 14 starts.
The most laps Biffle has ever led in a race at Daytona was in the Pepsi 400 in 2003 when he led 21 laps on his way to his first-ever Sprint Cup win.
In Saturday night's Bud Shootout, Biffle led a total of five laps and was rarely outside of the top 10. He reported that he might have a tire going down just before the final restart and spun before coming back around for the white flag, The spin resulted in a 15th-place finish.
Last season fans voted on what to name the 3M pit crew and the title "3M Pit Bulls" was the winner. All of the 3M Pit Bulls have returned for the 2010 season without exception.
