JOHN ANDRETTI
(No. 43 Cheerios Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"I'm glad that's over. I just about wiped out three times. We just
haven't been very good since we got here. We've been struggling. I told Greg
(crew chief Steadman) that I didn't care what he did with the car. I told him
to change everything around. The car was loose in qualifying, but it was
manageable. Greg told me if I didn't like it to stick it in the wall. I guess
I was just trying to put it in the wall and just didn't make it. That's a
good top 10 starting spot, so we'll try to work with it and go from here."
STERLING MARLIN
(No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"I thought we could run a little faster, but this is a new car. We hadn't
run it all year and we've been tweaking on it. That's two tenths better than
we practiced, but everybody else is going to pick up, too. We've got some
clouds coming it, but if we get in the top 15 I'll be happy. There's a big
bump off turn two and it hasn't got much grip. It'll be slide 'em all day
Sunday. We'll just have to get the car driving good in the race. We didn't
have the right gear in it today I don't think. This is a sister car to the
one we had at Michigan. We kept working on it and it's ready to go now. We've
had a lot of good runs here, but we haven't contended in a win for awhile.
Maybe we'll get up there Sunday."
DAVE BLANEY
(No. 93 Amoco Ultimate Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"The car was good. I don't know where I lost ground. I might have slowed
it up too much getting into turn one, but I thought the balance of the car
was real good. Maybe the weather picked up everybody a couple of tenths from
practice, but that was a better lap than I'd run all day. It wasn't bad. I
like racing here. It's fun if you get the car right."
STACY COMPTON
(No. 92 Kodiak Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"We should have picked up more from practice. The car worked so good. I
got off into turn one and the car turned and I picked it up too early. I just
got a little aggressive. We've got a good car, and that's a decent lap. We
should have been a little better. I felt like we had a shot at a top 10
qualifying lap, but I got a little too aggressive. I wish we could have got
the lap I was hunting for, but that'll be OK."
BILL ELLIOTT
(No. 9 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"That was a good lap. It was everything I had. We've got a top 10
starting spot, so at least we can see the front from there. We'll go to work
now and get ready for the race."
WARD BURTON
(No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"It felt like the right front tire went down. It hit the wall pretty good
and messed it up pretty good. We've got to rebuild it. It's real
disappointing. We were good in practice, and I thought we had a shot at the
pole."
CASEY ATWOOD
(No. 19 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
"The car is really good, but we're having come kind of motor problem.
We've had it all day. It misses off the corners. We thought we had it fixed,
but it still did it. We thought we had a good lap. We picked up on the second
lap. I think it was just a momentum thing. We'll try to work on it and make
it better. I think we'll be in good shape by the race."
