STERLING MARLIN
(No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Marlin will drive the same chassis that finished ninth earlier this
season at Bristol. Marlin finished 32nd at Richmond on Sept. 8, and fell to
fifth in the NASCAR Winston Cup Standings (NWCS). Marlin is the only driver
who has remained in the top 10 in the standings the entire season. He is one
of six drivers to score 13 or more top-10 finishes. The 44-year-old driver
from Columbia, Tenn., will make career start No. 530 on Sunday.
BILL ELLIOTT
(No. 9 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Elliott will drive the same chassis that finished fifth in the Mountain
Dew Southern 500 at Darlington. The 45-year-old 1988 NASCAR Winston Cup
champion from Dawsonville, Ga., will make career start No. 650 on Sunday.
Elliott's first start came on Feb. 29, 1976 at Rockingham. He has won 50
poles, 40 races and more than $26 million since. He finished 17th at Richmond
and moved to 13th in the NWCS. Elliott has gained six spots in the standings
in the past seven races. Elliott has quite an impressive record at Dover. In
36 career starts at the Monster Mile, Elliott has four victories, 11 top
fives and 18 top 10s. In his first start at Dover on Sept. 19, 1982, Elliott
qualified fifth and finished third. He won both races at Dover in 1988 and
has led a total of 2,033 laps at Dover.
WARD BURTON
(No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Burton will drive the same chassis that finished 12th at Bristol. The
39-year-old driver from South Boston, Va., has finished 12th, first and 12th
in his last three starts and ranks 17th in the NWCS. He'll make career start
No. 241 on Sunday. In 15 career starts at Dover, Burton has two top 10
finishes. He finished 14th at the Monster Mile earlier this season.
DAVE BLANEY
(No. 93 Amoco Ultimate Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Blaney will race the same chassis that finished 19th at Darlington in the
Mountain Dew Southern 500. Blaney finished 26th last week at Richmond and
ranks ranks 24th in the NCWS. The 36-year-old driver from Hartford, Ohio,
will make his 66th career start on Sunday. Blaney finished 33rd earlier this
season at Dover.
JOHN ANDRETTI
(No. 43 Cheerios Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Andretti will race the same chassis that carried him to a 21st-place
finish in the Mountain Dew Southern 500 at Darlington. Andretti finished 30th
at Richmond and ranks 29th in the NWCS. The 38-year-old driver from
Indianapolis will make career start No. 253 on Sunday. In 15 starts at Dover,
Andretti has one top-10 finish. He finished 19th at Dover earlier this season.
CASEY ATWOOD
(No. 19 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Atwood will race the same chassis that carried him to a 25th-place finish
in the Mountain Dew Southern 500 at Darlington. He finished 27th at Richmond,
and the 21-year-old Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender from Nashville,
Tenn., finished 29th earlier this season at Dover. He ranks 31st in the NWCS
and third in the six-driver rookie race.
STACY COMPTON
(No. 92 Kodiak Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Compton will race the same chassis he ran at Bristol. Compton finished
22nd at Richmond and ranks 35th in the NWCS. He'll make career start No. 57
on Sunday. Compton finished 32nd earlier this season at Dover.
JASON LEFFLER
(No. 01 Cingular Wireless Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Leffler will drive the Chip Ganassi Racing chassis that he drove to a
30th-place finish at Bristol. Leffler finished 28th at Richmond. The
25-year-old Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender from Long Beach, Calif.,
ranks 37th in the NWCS and is tied for fourth in the Raybestos Rookie of the
Year race. He finished 13th earlier this season at Dover, his best finish of
the season.
BUCKSHOT JONES
(No. 44 Georgia Pacific Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Jones will drive the same chassis that he drove to a 35th-place finish in
the Mountain Dew Southern 500 at Darlington. Jones finished 37th at Richmond.
He ranks 40th in the NWCS, and the 31-year-old driver from Tucker, Ga., will
make his 39th career Cup start on Sunday. Jones finished 26th earlier this
season at Dover. In his first start at Dover in 1998, Jones finished eighth.
KYLE PETTY
(No. 45 Sprint Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Petty will drive the same chassis that he drove to a 26th-place finish at
New Hampshire and 25th-place finish at Richmond. Petty ranks 42nd in the
NWCS, and the 41-year-old driver from Randleman, N.C., will make career start
No. 603 on Sunday. In 38 career starts at Dover, Petty has one victory, seven
top fives and 13 top 10s. He finished 20th earlier this season at the Monster
Mile.
