STERLING MARLIN
(No. 40 Coors Light Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Marlin will drive the same chassis that won the first race for Dodge this
season at Michigan. In three starts, this Intrepid chassis has finished third
at Michigan in June, second at Indianapolis in August and first at Michigan
on Aug. 29, 2001. Marlin finished eighth last week at Dover and ranks fifth
in the NASCAR Winston Cup Standings (NWCS) after 27 of 36 races on the 2001
schedule. Marlin has recorded 14 top 10s and seven top five finishes this
season and has only two DNFs. He^Òs the only driver to hold a top 10 ranking
the entire season. The 44-year-old driver from Columbia, Tenn., will make
career start No. 531 on Sunday.
BILL ELLIOTT
(No. 9 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Elliott^Òs chassis for the Kansas 400 will be the same one that finished
fifth in the recent Mountain Dew Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. Elliott
finished 30th last week at Dover after an accident early in the race forced
him to the pits for repairs. The Evernham Motorsports crew went to work and
got Elliott back in the race, and he remains the only driver this season
running at the end of the race. Elliott ranks 13th in the NWCS, and the
45-year-old 1988 NASCAR Winston Cup champion from Dawsonville, Ga., will make
career start No. 651 on Sunday.
WARD BURTON
(No. 22 Caterpillar Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Burton will race the same chassis that won the Mountain Dew Southern 500
at Darlington Raceway on Sept. 2. The 39-year-old driver from South Boston,
Va., finished 33rd last week at Dover and ranks 17th in the NWCS. He^Òll make
career start No. 242 on Sunday.
DAVE BLANEY
(No. 93 Amoco Ultimate Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Blaney will race the same chassis that finished eighth and sixth in the
two Michigan races this season. A cut tire relegated Blaney to a 35th-place
finish last week at Dover. The 36-year-old driver from Hartford, Ohio, ranks
25th in the NWCS and will make his 67th career start on Sunday.
JOHN ANDRETTI (No. 43 Cheerios Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Andretti will race the same chassis that carried him to a second-place
finish at Bristol earlier this season. He finished 21st with the same chassis
the second time around at Bristol. Andretti finished 19th last week at Dover
and ranks 29th in the NWCS. He^Òll make career start No. 254 on Sunday.
CASEY ATWOOD
(No. 19 Dodge Dealers Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Fresh off a career-best ninth-place finish last week at Dover, the
21-year-old Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender will drive his Indy and
Michigan chassis at Kansas Speedway. Atwood qualified third and finished 41st
at Indy. He qualified sixth and finished 10th at Michigan. Atwood ranks 30th
in the NWCS and third in the six-driver rookie race.
STACY COMPTON
(No. 92 Kodiak Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Compton will race the same chassis that qualified 33rd and finished 33rd
in the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Compton finished 24th
last week at Dover and ranks 35th in the NWCS. The 34-year-old driver from
Grit, Va., will make career start No. 58 on Sunday.
JASON LEFFLER
(No. 01 Cingular Wireless Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Leffler will drive the Chip Ganassi Racing chassis that he drove to a
24th-place finish at Chicago. Leffler failed to qualify last week at Dover
after finishing a career-best 13th there earlier this season. The 25-year-old
Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender from Long Beach, Calif., ranks 37th in
the NWCS and fifth in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year race.
BUCKSHOT JONES
(No. 44 Georgia Pacific Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Jones will drive the same chassis that he drove to a 39th-place finish
at Pocono. Jones finished 38th last week at Dover and ranks 40th in the NWCS.
The 31-year-old driver from Tucker, Ga., will make his 40th career Cup start
on Sunday.
KYLE PETTY
(No. 45 Sprint Dodge Intrepid R/T)
Petty will drive the same chassis that he drove to a 25th-place finish at
Michigan. Petty finished 43rd last week at Dover. He ranks 42nd in the NWCS,
and the 41-year-old driver from Randleman, N.C., will make career start No.
604 on Sunday.
