Dover schedule change for June 2

Dover, DE - Officials of Dover Downs International Speedway have announced a change in the schedule for NASCAR Winston Cup and Grand National division qualifying at the Monster Mile on Friday, June 2.

The Grand National teams will be qualifying at 2:15 p.m., with all 40 positions in the lineup for Saturday's GM Goodwrench/Delco Battery 200 to be decided. The pole winner will become the first record holder of any kind on the new state-of-the-art "White Lightning" concrete surface.

The Winston Cup cars will follow at 3 p.m., trying for positions 1 - 20 in Sunday's Miller Genuine Draft 500. The balance of Sunday's field will be set in second-round qualifying on Saturday morning.

Previously, qualifying for the Winston Cup cars had been slated to precede the Grand National time trials. The revised schedule will make possible a final practice session for the GM Goodwrench/Delco Battery 200 competitors before the track closes for the day.
