Welcome, North Carolina - After celebrating in a come from behind victory on Sunday, crew chief of the GM Goodwrench Service Plus team and driver Dale Earnhardt, Kevin Hamlin made his way gingerly home Sunday night with the GM Goodwrench Service Plus team. Hamlin as reported on Sunday, suffered injuries while competing in a Monster Truck event at Talladega on Saturday night. Although experience discomforting he was still able to make the calls from the pits in Sunday's victory.
On Monday, Hamlin visited Dr. Charles Branch, M.D., Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Dr. Branch diagnosed Hamlin with two compressed fractured vertebras, the 5th and 7th, and one fractured rib.
Dr. Branch ordered Hamlin to get plenty of rest for the next 48 hours and to wear a brace to support his injuries. Branch also recommended that Hamlin gives up his Monster Truck career and stick to winning crew chief. Which Hamlin quickly replied "NO PROBLEM!"
Hamlin will be at Rockingham this weekend and is expected to have a full recovery.
Dr. Charles Branch is the same Doctor who performed surgery on Dale Earnhardt over the winter to repair a ruptured disc in the seven-time champion's spine.
