Kevin Lepage profile

CONCORD, N.C. (May 8, 2001)--Kevin Lepage, who now resides in Mooresville, N.C., began his racing career on the short tracks of New England. He started driving at the age of 17 in the Busch North Series in a car owned by his father and managed by his older brother. He competed in the NASCAR-sanctioned series from 1980 to 1986.

In 1987, Kevin formed Lepage Motorsports and started his ventures in the American-Canadian Tour. He followed the series, until 1993, from the New England states up into Canada, sometimes racing on Saturday nights and driving hundreds of miles to compete again on Sunday.

When asked to name his most memorable racing accomplishments, Lepage quickly answers with the New England Milk Bowl. The Milk Bowl is a showcase event of racing talents, held each year at a quarter-mile, high-banked track. In 1993, Lepage drove in the tour car division and the late model division. He is one of the only drivers to win the Milk Bowl and the Milk Cup in the same day. He went on to win Milk Bowl honors three times.

Lepage's list of racing moments also boasts his first Busch Grand National Series win in 1996 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida. Memories of announcer Ken Squier, a fellow Vermont native, calling the victory over Mark Martin, Joe Nemechek and Bobby Labonte, make the win even more special. An encore to that performance took place at Bristol Motor Speedway in 1998, when he captured his second Grand National victory.

Lepage began his NASCAR Winston Cup Series career 101 races ago at Lowe's Motor Speedway near Charlotte, N.C. In October 1997, Lepage qualified 12th for his first Winston Cup appearance, but finished a dismal 40th after being caught up in a wreck.

The Shelburne, Vt., native, has one Winston Cup career pole at Atlanta in 1999. He has two top-fives and seven top-10's since beginning the elite series full time in 1998. His best finish in a Winston Cup event is fifth, twice.

In five starts behind the wheel of the No. 4 Kodak MAX Film Monte Carlo, Lepage has posted finishes of 15th, 11th, 18th, 42nd and 27th. Lepage stepped into the Morgan-McClure Motorsports ride for the first time at the Food City 500 in Bristol, the sixth race of the 2001 season.

With hopes of adding a few more impressive stats to his resume, Lepage teams up with Morgan-McClure Motorsports for the next three years. Morgan-McClure's 14 wins and long-time sponsor Kodak offer a colorful palette to build from. Exuding a tireless effort to win, Morgan-McClure Motorsports, Kodak and Lepage plan to park the No. 4 Kodak MAX Film Monte Carlo in victory lane for a 15th time and a 16th. well, the picture is clear.
