Carolina Dodge Dealers 400
Started: 38th
Finished: 29th
Laps Completed: 288 of 293
Points Position: 37th--377 points
* The No. 4 Chevy pitted on lap 19 with a bad vibration.
* Lap 36, Gordon pitted again. The team found three stripped lug nuts as a culprit for vibrations. The problem was fixed during pit stops on laps 47 and 48.
* Lap 216 to lap 223, the KODAK MAX Film Chevy was the fastest car on the track. It turned laps 1/10th to 2/10ths faster than the leaders, No. 10 and No. 1.
* Bristol Motor Speedway, the next stop on the circuit is home track to Morgan-McClure Motorsports. Abingdon, Va., where the race shop is located, is approximately 30 minutes from Bristol. * Morgan-McClure Motorsports logged its first NASCAR Winston Cup Series win at Bristol in August, 1990 with driver Ernie Irvan. KODAK was the primary sponsor. It was the first of seven visits to victory lane with the Irvan/Morgan-McClure combination.
Larry McClure quotes on Darlington
"We had a good race car. It ran consistently fast laps. At one point
during the race, we were turning laps as fast or faster than the leaders. We
had a problem with three stripped lug nuts early in the race. We lost laps
early and that always makes for a long day, especially at Darlington."
