"It was a tough lap. I felt like I had to tip-toe it a little bit. I couldn't get aggressive with the steering wheel. I saw the number that Martin (Truex Jr.) put down and that's different than anything we've seen here at Phoenix, especially it being on his first lap. For us, a solid lap. It just didn't feel like a second-place lap, more like a 10th-place lap. It's nice to carry the momentum over that we gained last weekend in Texas.
"It was an eventful two laps. I thought that we missed the setup out of Turn 4 to take the green flag because the car was so loose. I didn't want to drive the car too hard. Sometimes here in Phoenix the best approach is not to over drive the corners and it seemed to turn out in our favor. The first lap time was in the 27s (27-second range) which isn't bad four your first lap. It seems like you should pick up a good two-tenths for there and it did. We were very surprised because after practice we had a couple things wrong with the car that we changed. Overall, to be second with the Miller Lite Dodge we're happy."
