Stremme To Start 39th in Sunday's Infineon Road Course Race
SONOMA, Calif. (June 19, 2009) -- David Stremme, driver of the No. 12 Penske Dodge Charger, secured the 39th starting position for the start of Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350 at 12-turn Infineon Raceway.
Stremme and the No.12 Penske Dodge Charger team had a ninety minute practice session on Friday afternoon to get the car dialed in for qualifying. Stremme fought a tight race car for the most of the practice session, but the team worked diligently to find a combination which was both comfortable and fast.
During Friday afternoon's qualifying session, Stremme posted a fast lap time of 78.811 seconds at a speed of 90.901 miles per hour placing the No. 12 team on the inside of the 20th row for the start of Sunday's 219-mile event in California's wine country.
"Our Penske Racing Dodge is pretty good," commented Stremme after his qualifying effort. "We just need to get the driver more comfortable in the car. I've only raced here once and it's really tough when you don't have a lot of track time. I know we'll be OK for Sunday. We've got a really fast car. I'm getting better. We'll be fine."
