NASCAR SUZUKA CIRCUIT 2-DAY GOODYEAR TIRE TEST COMPLETED
SUZUKA CITY, JAPAN April 4, 1996) -- NASCAR Winston Cup Series drivers Dale Earnhardt and Rusty Wallace closed a two-day Goodyear tire test today with a three-lap exhibition race at Suzuka Circuit's 1.4-mile East course.
Although they were on the track for only one day, the trip was well worth it for the Penske South Team. "We practiced at 53-54 seconds today and we should be at 51 when we get back here in November," said Robin Pemberton, crew chief for the Miller Ford Thunderbird. "This is a great facility and the people have been great to us."
After the two NASCAR Winston Cup Series teams had packed up, four Japanese drivers took to the course in Suzuka's Million Card Ford Thunderbird.
The traveling group of 24 representing the two teams, NASCAR and Goodyear will return to the United States on Friday.
