BUSCH: Joliet: Stacy Compton preview

The Team: #59 Kingsford/Johnsonville Chevrolet - NASCAR Busch Series

The Race: Tropicana Twister 300 - Chicagoland Speedway, Joliet, IL - July 13, '02 3:30 ET - 300 miles (200 laps)

The Track: 1.5 mile banked tri-oval with 18 degrees of banking in the turns.

TV/Radio: NBC/3:30 ET and MRN radio 3:00 ET

Compton at Chicagoland: One Winston Cup race in 2001 - started 25th & finished 26th

Compton on Chicagoland: "Chicagoland isn't any bigger than the other 1.5 mile ovals that we run, and it has less banking than most of the tracks that we run, but it sure is fast. The track has a lot of grip and you can really feel the speed as you head off into the corners. Last year was the first race at the facility and a second groove never really came in. We'll need to qualify well and have good pit stops to get the finish that we want."

Crew Chief Comments: "Noone really has much of a notebook on Chicago since it was a new track last season. We'll practice race laps for awhile when we get there, and once we get our rhythm we'll switch to qualifying mode for the last half of practice."

Double Duty: Compton will also run the Winston Cup event at Chicagoland in the #14 AJ Foyt racing entry.

Teammates: Compton will have a teammate this weekend, as form Busch Champion David Green makes his second start in the #09 Busch Car sponsored by Ciclon Energy Drink. ST Motorsports is fielding the entry (which finished 14th in it's only other appearance in Charlotte) with the help of Melling Racing.
