Timber Wolf/Brewco Motorsports Team Manager Undergoes Surgery for Injuries Suffered in Pit Road Accident at Hickory Motor Speedway
Central, City, Ky. (April 14, 1998) -- Timber Wolf/Brewco Motorsports team manager Todd Wilkerson underwent successful surgery today at Owensboro (Ky.) Emergency Health Systems to have pins inserted in his fractured left wrist. The procedure, performed by Dr. James Carothers, was necessary due to a distal radial fracture.
On April 11, during the running of the Galaxy Foods 300 NASCAR Busch Series race at Hickory Motor Speedway, a car careened into the pit lane and slammed into the Timber Wolf team's pit box on which Wilkerson was sitting. The 36-year-old Owensboro, Kentucky resident, who is also the jackman on raceday, was thrown from the pit box and suffered a fractured left wrist and fractured left radial head (elbow).
Wilkerson is not expected to return as the jackman for the remainder of the 1998 season but will continue his team manager duties. A replacement jackman will be announced at a future date.
Brewco Motorsports field the No. 37 Timber Wolf Chevrolet Monte Carlo for Mark Green in the NASCAR Busch Series and the No. 37 Red Man Chevrolet for Scot Walters in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. # # # #
