WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Defending NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour champion Brian Loftin (No. 23 L&R Transmissions/QMF Metal Solutions Chevrolet) won his first Coors Light Pole Award of the season during qualifying for Saturday night's Advance Auto Parts 199 at Bowman Gray Stadium.
Loftin qualified with a time of 13.597 seconds (66.191 mph) to win the pole. Burt Myers (No. 1 Capital Bank Ford) was second with a time of 13.604 seconds and current points leader George Brunnhoelzl III came in third after qualifying. Frank Fleming and Bobby Hutchens completed the top five.
Brunnhoelzl III was the benefactor of the redraw as the top-10 qualifiers redrew for starting positions. Myers was second with Loftin third and Hutchens fourth. Local competitor Randy Butner will start fifth with Jason Myers sixth.
Fleming will start seventh with Andy Seuss eighth and Zach Brewer ninth. John Smith rounded out the top 10.
The Advance Auto Parts will start at 8 p.m. Saturday night at Bowman Gray Stadium.
