St. Augustine Speedway 1999-06-12

HALL BACK ON TRACK AT ST. AUGUSTINE SPEEDWAY

ST. AUGUSTINE, FLA - Kenny Hall of St. Augustine took the lead on lap 37 and went on to power his Florida Cash Pawn No. 3 to his fourth win in the NASCAR Winston Racing Series Snap-On Sportsman Division at St. Augustine Speedway. Following Hall across the line was Don Halliday of Jacksonville, Fla. and Bo Allen of McClinney, Fla. The double points awarded to Hall in this event allowed him to overtake Tiny Cline in the Divisional point standings. David Showers of St. Augustine survived a crash filled Late Model 50-lapper to pick up his first St. Augustine Speedway win in only his second start. Larry Osteen, of Clermont, Fla. and Nolan Wilson of Sanford, Fla. finished second and third respectively. David Hiers was fined $200 for unsportsmanlike conduct following an incident between himself and the No. 22 car of Osteen while the field was under caution late in the event. By virtue of Osteen's second place finish in this event, he passes St. Augustine's David Clegg in the point standings. Clegg was absent from Saturday's action because of previous commitments. In the Muffler Man Modified Division, Jimmy Britts of Orange Park, Fla. came from his third starting position to notch his second victory this season over Jamie Carter and Marc Kinley. Car Owner Charles Cumby, Sr. of Jacksonville, Fla. also received a $200 fine during this event for unsportsmanlike conduct after his No. 88 car, driven by his son, Charles Cumby, Jr. was involved in an accident just past the halfway point. The Thunder Truck Division saw Ricky Cooper of Elkton, Fla. pick up his fourth win of the season and his third in a row. Alan Moore and Mark Lento, both of St. Augustine, finished second and third, respectively. The Hobby Stock main event went to Rodney Norman, of Orange Park, Fla over Chris Manucy and Seth Caudill. Joe Haslauer won the Mini Stock main event finishing ahead of Jay Farris and Steve Thompson.
