AVONDALE, Ariz. -- Two 16-year-old drivers for Joe Gibbs Racing made it a one-two finish in the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series AlphaTrade.com 150 at Phoenix International Raceway on Thursday.
Joey Logano made the most of his NASCAR Grand National Division debut, by taking the win over Marc Davis, who was making his second start in the division. Both teens are part of a driver development program for Joe Gibbs Racing.
Logano, who started on the outside of the front row, led early and then battled back to the front after pitting for fresh tires and fuel on lap 73. He charged by race leader David Mayhew, who faded with a sour engine on lap 135. Logano held on for the win in a two-lap dash to the finish after a late-race caution extended the race distance for a green-white-checkered finish.
Davis crossed the line in second, followed by West Series veteran Mike David. Jeff Barkshire finished fourth, with Jesus Hernandez taking fifth.
