Greg Anderson out in quarterfinals
Continues to hold lead in Countdown to Eight

BAYTOWN, Texas (April 1, 2007) -- Anderson, who has won two of the first three races thus far on the 2007 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series schedule, suffered tire shake and got loose during the second round of eliminations at the 20th annual NHRA O'Reilly Spring Nationals, ending his day and bid for a third win in four races.

Anderson drove his KB Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock Pontiac GTO by Larry Morgan in the opening round.

In the second round against Dave Connolly, the pair left together at the green light, but immediately thereafter Anderson went into tire shake and shut it down and coasted to the finish line. He could only watch as Connolly took the win light.

"We shook the tires, it was as simple as that," said Anderson, following the second round. "We just over tuned the car. We've been fighting tire spin in low gear all weekend long and it finally came back and bit us. Fortunately, Jason's Summit Pontiac picked up the slack and headed to the winner's circle. We now head to Las Vegas to see if we can win one for (team owner) Ken (Black) in his hometown. We've got to get the tire shake figured out before we get there."

Unofficially, after four of 17 events in the Countdown to Eight segment of the Countdown to the Championship, Anderson leads the Pro Stock class. He has 368 points, 45 more than his teammate and reigning POWERade Pro Stock champion Jason Line, who is second in points in his Summit Racing Pontiac. Line won the 20th annual NHRA O'Reilly Spring Nationals Pro Stock title.
