Vandergriff ready for Brainerd battle
Brainerd, Minn., (August 10, 2006)- Bob Vandergriff Jr. is ready to do battle this weekend at the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway and will take no prisoners. The UPS Top Fueler had been struggling with some chassis challenges during the last few races but it appears the crew chief Jim Dupuy has a handle on the problem. Vandergriff is looking forward to returning to the upper portion of the qualifying ladder.
"We have had a few issues with the car responding to Jim's [Dupuy] tune-up," explained the Alpharetta, Ga. based Vandergriff. "The guys on the crew have worked tirelessly to get the issues sorted out and it appears that things are under control. The car has been running hard but we need to9 see consistency. Hopefully we can get back to running strong on Friday. I'm really eager to get our UPS car into the winner's circle. "
Vandergriff currently sits in 14th position in the NHRA POWERade championship points chase.
