PRO STOCK -- CAMARO Z28

KURT JOHNSON, AC DELCO CAMARO Z28, was eliminated in the semifinals by Tom Martino on a holeshot advantage. Kurt's e.t. was 7.110 seconds at a speed of 193.88 mph, to Martino's 7.130/192.88. Kurt's reaction time was .486 to Martino's .465. Martino went on to win the Pro Stock title.

KURT: "Today started out pretty good. We ran a 7.06, which was low e.t. of the round. Then we made a terrible run in the second round. Downtrack the thing was out of control, I thought I was going to crash for a minute, it was spinnng, and it was just a mess, so we swappped lanes and went into the left lane. I thought I had a prtty decent light (reaction time), I'd been cutting .460s all day, but I had a .486 and the thing was still spinning through the middle of the race course, and it pulled to the centerline pretty hard. There's hundreds of ways you can pick up a thousandth (of a second) to win a race, and I lost by a thousandth. That's the nature of this category -- win or lose by a thousandth."
