Line suffers first round loss

COMMERCE, Ga. (May 7, 2006) -- Rain delayed the start of eliminations this afternoon at Atlanta Dragway for the 26th annual NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals presented by Pontiac for just over four hours.

What a difference a week made for Jason Line, driver of the KB Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment-backed Pro Stock Pontiac GTO. One week ago, Line celebrated a win at NHRA O'Reilly Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tenn.

This weekend, although he recorded the low elapsed time and top speed (6.690/206.23) during his run, Line was turned back by Dave Connolly, who recorded a 6.702-second pass.

"The good news is that we ran low elapsed time and top speed of the event up to that point on that run," said Line. "The bad news was that we shook quite a bit in seconds gear and might of has more left in the car. I should have done better on the tree (starting lights). Dave (Connolly) is always good on the tree and he proved that again today. All in all it was a good weekend. We'll try again at Columbus in two weeks."

Line and his KB Racing LLC team head to Columbus for the NHRA Pontiac Performance Nationals presented by Summit which will be contested May 18-21 at National Trail Raceway, in Kirkersville, Ohio.
