Momentum in Jason Line's favor
COMMERCE, Ga. (May 4, 2006) -- Statistically speaking, Jason Line, driver of the KB Racing LLC-owned, Summit Racing Equipment-backed Pro Stock Pontiac GTO, had the best weekend of his career at last weekend's event in Bristol, Tenn.
The Wright, Minn.-native, who now calls Terrell, N.C. home, ran the board at Bristol, gathering the No. 1 qualifying position, low elapsed time and top speed of the event, and winning the event over teammate Greg Anderson. With the win, Line moved into the No. 2 position in the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock point standings with 415 points, 51 points behind Anderson
Line now would like the momentum he established last weekend to carryover to this weekend's 26th annual NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals presented by Pontiac at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Ga.
"It was an awesome weekend in Bristol but Atlanta is a whole new game," said Line, who was runner-up to Anderson at this race last year, setting the low elapsed time mark of the event. "I would say we finally got it together and we hope to carry the momentum we established last weekend to Atlanta Dragway. We came back to our shop in the Charlotte area and got both Greg and my car ready for this weekend's race. I'm really looking forward to getting on the track Friday.
"Also, I should add that when the event carries the name of two outstanding sponsors like Summit and Pontiac, it makes you want to go out there and do something extra. This whole KB Racing team plans to do just that."
Line now has 16 final round appearances and nine wins since turning pro in 2003. He has also held the No. 1 qualifying spot six times, earning two this season.
At Atlanta Dragway, qualifying for Line and his KB Racing LLC/Summit Racing Equipment Pro Stock Pontiac GTO begins with two Pro Stock sessions on Friday, May 5, scheduled for 3:30 and 6:30 p.m. and concludes with two additional Pro Stock sessions on Saturday, May 6, at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Anderson begins his quest for the Summit Racing Equipment Southern Nationals presented by Pontiac Pro Stock title on Sunday, May 7, with eliminations for all classes beginning at 11 a.m. All times are local Atlanta time (ET) and subject to change at anytime.
