Consistent run for Will ends in first round exit
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 19, 2006) -- After qualifying No. 6, Hillary Will, behind the wheel of the KB Racing LLC-owned, Kalitta Motorsports-managed Top Fuel Dragster, exited from the 37th annual NHRA ACDelco Gatornationals in an exiting race against Bob Vandergriff, Jr.
Will covered the Gainesville Raceway quarter-mile in 4.588 seconds, while Vandergriff recorded a 4.522-second pass, his quickest ran of the year.
"It wasn't all that bad of a run," said Will. "It was consistent with the runs we had in qualifying and under other circumstances might have won. We're going to try and get better from here."
In NHRA POWERade points, Will leaves the event in 10th with 121 points.
Will and her Jim O-tuned Top Fuel dragster now head to the Houston area and the next race on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series -- the O'Reilly Auto Parts Spring Nationals -- which is scheduled for March 31-April 2 at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas.
