WEIS FEELING LIKE HOME IN GAINESVILLE
GAINESVILLE, Fla., (March 13, 2006)- Scott Weis feels like he is coming home by competing in the AC DELCO NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Fla., this weekend. Weis, the driver of the Barrett Enterprises Top Fuel dragster, upgraded his NHRA competition license at Gainesville Raceway in 1999.
"Gainesville has been good to us," said Weis. "We have done well here in the past. We went to the semifinals here in 2004. We also went to the finals at the divisional race at Gainesville in our alcohol funny car, but lost to Tony Bartone."
"I love the facility at Gainesville Raceway," Weis added. "It is one of the most prestigious tracks on the East coast. This is where the 300 MPH barrier was broken back in 1992. We enjoy the climate here and the atmosphere of this historic track."
Weis and his family hope that the success they have experienced at the Gatornationals in the past will be with them for this weekends third stop on the 23 race NHRA POWERade Drag Racing series.
