LAS VEGAS -- With the temperatures downright hot, it was difficult for Pro Stock competitors to make the 16-car field for the NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Such was the case for Larry Nance, from Akron, Ohio, driver of the U. S. Marine Corps Olds Cutlass.
At the end of four qualifying sessions, Nance occupied the 26th spot on the qualifying list.
Although he made four fairly consistent runs, Nance continues to be hindered by having a much older model car than his fellow competitors. "We don't want to use the car as a crutch," said Nance. "Let's just say we have a new Jerry Bickel Cavalier ordered and when it arrives in May we'll see what difference it may make.
"We here to make the Marine Corps backed Catch 22 race team a winner. That is and has always been my goal. We're working toward the future."
The next event for Larry Nance and the Team Marines Olds will be the O'Reilly Spring Nationals at Houston Raceway Park, in Baytown, Texas. The event is scheduled for next weekend with professional qualifying starting on Friday, April 12.
