REICHERT, MARTIN CLAIM WINS AT ROUTE 66 RACEWAY

JOLIET, Ill. -- The final results from the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at Route 66 Raceway, Bill Reichert, Owosso, Mich., drove his Top Alcohol Dragster to his second win of the season while Beaver Falls, Pa., Top Alcohol Funny Car pilot Bobby Martin won his first event in just his second race of the season.

Reichert, who qualified in the No. 4 spot this weekend, took the win over No. 2 qualifier Marty Thacker of Robinson, Ill. Reichert made his best run of the weekend in the final when he ripped a 5.295-second, 268.92 mph pass, which was more than enough to cover Thacker's 5.412-second, 264.91 mph effort. This is Reichert's second win in as many weeks as he just scored the win at the NHRA national event here last week.

Martin came into the day as the No. 2 qualifier. He made his best run of the day in the final against Steve Harker, Gainesville, Ga. Martin ran 5.630 seconds at 256.94 mph to Harker's 5.751-second lap at 250.97 mph.

In Comp Eliminator, Jason Coan, Greentown, Ind., scored the win over David Billingsly, Decatur, Ill. Super Stock winner Monte Howard, Greentown, Ind., and Stock Eliminator champ Tim Mosbek, Andover, Minn., both faced off against the same opponent: Jeremy Duncan of Charlestown, Ind. Like Reichert, Mosbeck won the national event here last week. Scotty Rienschield, Sunman, Ind., outran Kara Roedel, Evansville, Ind., for the win in Super Comp and the Super Gas win went to Brucefield, Ont., racer Dave Klomps who defeated Steven Hoyt, Ft. Wayne, Ind., in the final. Joey Fuesting, Waukegan, Ill., outclassed the Super Street field with a win over Craig Abbott, Strawn, Texas. Top Sportsman racer Rick Corn, Benton, Ill., beat out Tommy Turner, Naples, Fla., in the final while in Top Dragster, Jeffery Brown, Marysville, Ohio, got the win over Rick Forish, New Palestine, Ind. In the Pro Stock Snowmobile exhibition event, Edwin Wirbel, Midland, Mich., beat Milford, Mich., resident Joe Riccardi.

NHRA North Central division racers head to Stanton, Mich., for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event. Mid-Michigan Motorplex will host the series July 12-13.
